CONTENT CREATION BASICS

Give these a whirl (and post them on other platforms too)

“ARE YOU GOING TO RUIN THIS?” AUDIO: This sassy audio has creators sharing a situation that they’re going to “ruin” or "disrupt" by sharing un-fun facts or inconvenient truths, like this creator did. To make your own version, pick a “disruptive fact” that causes a stir at a meeting, an event, a conversation with a reporter, etc and share it via text on a video formatted like this.

“BELIEVE ME IF DONALD TRUMP IS PRESIDENT AGAIN” AUDIO: Michelle Obama did not miss when she warned about a second Trump presidency as shared in this clip. The resulting audio can now be used to highlight the horrors of the current admin. Use the audio overlaid on a carousel style post that shares news and stats of what’s going on currently, driving Michelle’s point home.

“RICH PEOPLE HAVING A SIDE HUSTLE” AUDIO: This clip from a convo with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler is highly workable for showcasing rich people with side hustles…in government. Utilize the first, relevant part of the audio by…

  • …using it over a video of a rich person with a gov side hustle doing their gov side hustle

  • …using it over a carousel of stories that show the problems with a rich person having a gov side hustle

  • …using it over a b-roll video that’s superimposed with an image that again shares the issues of having a rich person with gov as a side hustle

“...DOESN’T KNOW YET BUT…” TREND: This rather heartbreaking trend has creators sharing a moment they captured before a big, insane, and mostly situation unfolded. It plays into that the creator did not know the bad thing was going to happen and how that clip in an essence of blissful ignorance in nutshell. The trend uses this audio and text on the video screen to communicate what the creator didn’t know at the moment. Politically-speaking, it can be used to highlight constituents and the before/after of a bad policy or budget passing that cuts resources they depend on.

Creative content concepts to try

“YES, OF COURSE” TREND: This trend has creators sarcastically sharing an insane idea under the premise of “why didn’t I think of that, it’s genius,” like this creator did regarding an RFK Jr. take on reality. To rinse and repeat with the trend, pick one of the many insane and not factually based ideas circulating in the political orbit, and film a video like this. The goal is to shed light on how absurd the things being suggested or made as solutions are, and who is behind those ideas.

“LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME” AUDIO: This audio cut can be used to share a fact, a set of facts, or a status quo around a political topic. The Reel created could follow the format exemplified by this creator, or it could take one of these two forms:

  • A b-roll video could be superimposed with an image that illustrates the fact you’re aiming to share.

  • A video featuring the creator lip-syncing the audio, with a superimposed image that highlights the info you’re aiming to underscore.

“I TOLD YOU SO” AUDIO: This audio is being used by content creators that have received comments from followers expressing that they weren't following “for the political content” that the creator has been sharing – meanwhile, the content that they’re sharing is inherently political. In that exact vein, the trend can be used by orgs that focus on an issue area that the general public might not view at a glance as “political.” In addition, the audio itself can be used to highlight a “told you so” moment. Two routes to take with it:

  • A before and after structure video – with the prediction of what would happen if XYZ happened shared with text or an image on b-roll, followed by the prediction coming to fruition shared with text or an image. The “before” part should be for the full duration of the video and the “after” timed to be added half way through.

  • A b-roll video featuring a candidate or elected with text overlaid sharing something that they had warned about that is now becoming a reality.

“REALITY CHECK” TREND: This emerging trend has creators using this audio to share an economic and/or political reality that might better inform someone’s pie in the sky ideas about life – take this one on billionaires to get the idea. To make this trend a reality, pull an un-fun fact or reality shaker, and layer it via text over a video of the creator, either b-roll or with the creator directly filming it like this. To cap it off, add this audio and the source of the info in the caption.

“HAVEN’T BEEN FEELING AUTOMATIC SUPERSONIC..” AUDIO: This audio is super Millennial coded and can be used to describe how many people are feeling in this political environment. It can also be used to share a news story that directly contributes to this feeling. For orgs especially, this would be an audio to use over a Reel that’s composed of b-roll and either text about a story, a graph sharing data that’s superimposed, or an image of a headline that’s superimposed.
