TIKTOK CONTENT TRENDS
Give these a whirl (and post them on other platforms too)
“IT’S EMBARRASSING TO BE A LIBERAL” AUDIO: This audio of a right-wing talking head saying that “being a liberal is embarrassing” is going viral. And it’s going viral because the liberal girlies especially are using the audio to film fit check videos like this, that show that they are exactly the opposite of the stereotype she’s trying to paint [disclaimer: what she’s describing is cool AF, too]. Join the trend by using this audio over a fit check and adding the text “me, a liberal” to the video.
“THIS AND A NEW PRESIDENT” TREND: This trend has creators using b-roll of really beautiful settings [think: on a boat in the summer with a bevie in hand] with this audio, sharing that they’re dreaming of what’s pictured in the video, a new president, and often a third thing of note like in this one. There are loads of examples to pick from like this one and this one. It’s a soft approach to share where you stand politically and what you want to see.
“THINGS I FIND CHIC” TREND: Creators like this are using the Carousel capability to share things they find chic. They’re also adding this audio to add a little old world romanticization to it. This trend can be made political with the “chic items” being replaced with “chic POVs on politics.” Policy ideas of the results of policies can also be a stand-in. This trend would be great for infrastructure projects or for proving the need for funded national parks.
“YOU’RE SO QUIET” TREND: This trend has creators showcasing that awkward social situation when someone “calls you out” for being “quiet.” Low key we’re cringing just thinking about it. Alas, the trend also points to why that creator is being quiet i.e. what they’re actually thinking at that moment and aren’t saying out loud. The trend involves a still image and text on video formatting on this. Oh, and this Avril song is being used for the audio. Politically-speaking, this can be used to share a moment where an elected official is making an expressive face but not saying anything – with the content being the avenue in which what they’re thinking in that moment is revealed.
“DRINKING COFFEE IS BAD FOR…” TREND: This creator dropped this video where she highlights a scenario in which she’s drinking coffee and someone comments that it’s “bad for her heart.” She then goes on to share a situation that actually is bad for her heart – in this case, it’s being a law student in Trump’s America. The concept can be replicated [tag her in the caption for trend credit] with situations like…
Wait until you find out what it’s like to be a federal worker in Trump’s America
Wait until you find out what jobs you can get with your PhD in Trump’s America
“BABY WE KNOW” AUDIO: This audio is being used to share a political situation or reveal something that was completely obvious, but certain people are only realizing it now – like seen in this example. We imagine it being used to highlight a person announcing that they think “someone is doing something that is very similar to authoritarianism.”
“TOWN HALL W/ REP. MCCORMICK AUDIO: The first part of this audio from a constituent of Georgia Congressman McCormick’s asking him at a town hall what he plans to do to reign in the self-declared king. Creators are using it to showcase both the question and its importance, alongside an interpretative dance or too. It’s theatrical gold, and can also be used to share an action to take – think text on the screen or in the caption.
“AND I HATE HIM…” AUDIO: This audio has a BFF sharing that she will never speak to her BFF’s shitty BF because she hates him. It can easily be used to share someone you strongly dislike in politics that you never want to speak to or speak to again. Text could be added to the video in “POV format.” For example, “POV: XYZ’s office asks you for a meeting to discuss XYZ.”

INSTAGRAM TRENDS
Creative content concepts to try
“TRY EXPLAINING THIS FEELING TO…” TREND: This trend is based on sharing b-roll that’s emblematic of quintessential girlhood experiences – experiences that bring joy that you just couldn’t quite explain or translate to a boy. In the political application sense, the trend could evolve to “try explaining this feeling to a Republican.” The b-roll for the Reel could include snippets of groups working together, exuding joy, and/or showing how the fruits of positive policy change are utilized/enjoyed. Visually, over the b-roll, add the text ““try explaining this feeling to a Republican” and use this audio.
“TRUST THE JOURNEY” AUDIO: This audio can be used to create a Reel that has the goal of inspiring people to run for office. Once you hear the audio, the girls that get it will get it. An organization that works with candidates could use b-roll of those that they’ve worked with that have been elected to create a Reel with a CTA in the caption. And, a current candidate could use campaign trail b-roll to create a Reel that inspires others to run for office right now too.
“YOU STARTED ASKING FOR SIGNS” TREND: This trend encapsulates the experience of “looking for a sign” out in the universe on whether to take action or not, as seen here. The trend is being used as a creative CTA with two parts:
Part 1: A video in a space relevant to your ask/mission with text added in this format – “POV: you started asking for signs and you suddenly started seeing them everywhere.”
Part 2: A colleague’s arm + a sign entering the frame of the video with the sign stating the ask – ex: “you need to call your senator”
