TIKTOK CONTENT TRENDS
Give these a whirl (and post them on Reels & Shorts too)
“SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS” TREND: This trend has been done by friends, significant others, siblings, and so on, to drive support for an interest or endeavor of usually a softer spoken friend/partner/sibling or one that’s too humble about something they’ve created. The trend features the more confident friend/partner/sibling showing up like this, this, or this, followed by the soft spoken friend/partner/sibling coming to the front to share their interest or endeavor. This trend works particularly well for orgs or coalitions.
“YOU’RE NOT GETTING IT” AUDIO: This Justin Bieber audio that goes “you’re not getting it, it’s not clocking to you that I’m standing on business” is going viral in a number of ways. The lane that’s most applicable to political content, are videos that share a concept you continually explain that somehow people aren’t getting [clocking]. The first example that comes to mind would be a candidate trying to explain over and over that they don’t take corporate PAC money or that they feel a certain way about an issue that’s being misrepresented to the public via smear campaign. Whatever the specific tagline is for you, the format of the video typically should look like this or like this; and yes, many of these use an enhanced speed filter.
“BE A LITTLE LESS SNARKY” AUDIO: We’ll note, we have reservations about recommending this audio, so proceed with caution [LOL]. It’s the audio snippet from the Tucker Carlson x Ted Cruz interview, where Ted tells Tucker “to be less snarky.” If it weren’t these two goons, it would be comedy gold – or kind of still is? Anyways, if we wereeee to use it, we’d use it as a lip-sync trend in response to someone saying you’re snarky/cunning/clever/too big for your britches. Think: sarcastic clap back.

INSTAGRAM TRENDS
Creative content concepts to try
“THE SOUND OF…” TREND: This audio, which is the delight of hearing an iced coffee being shaken, is being used for Reels like these. The Reels, or trend depreciated in them, connected the “sound of the ice coffee being shaken” with its symbolic value in the creator’s world [ex: the sound of money leaving my bank account, which plays up how overpriced coffee can be and it being a part of the creator’s habit stack]. In the political realm, the trend could be applied with 1-5 participants, with possible themes being:
“The sound of getting together to come with a plan to tackle [ISSUE]”
“The sound of this is going to be an all-nighter on the floor”
“The sound of catching up after your boss leaves the Hill”
“The sound of shit talking [WHO/WHAT]”
“DO YOU THINK THEY’LL LIKE EACH OTHER…” TREND: For candidates that are running as part of a joint ticket [Governor + Lt Governor], this trend would be a fun one to add to the to-do list – it’s a trend being used typically by two besties who are depicting their curiosity and concern over whether their significant others will like each other/get along, only to find that their significant others are two peas in a pod. This trend looks like this in application, with two-part video, four+ participants, and text added to the video along these lines “Us: do you think our partners will like each other?” + “our partners.” This trend is also having a moment on TikTok, and leans toward the evergreen category.
“POV: YOUR BOYFRIEND DOESN’T HAVE FRAGILE MASCULINITY” TREND: This trend is making moves on both Reels and TikTok, with women showing their boyfriends carrying their purses with joy when it gets too heavy for them. The joy portion of it is core to the trend, with the thesis centering on the fact that the boyfriend’s behavior showcases that they haven’t come down with a case of fragile masculinity. The trend could be utilized by an elected, candidate, or other political thought leader.
“YOUR NAME WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME BY SOME PEOPLE” TREND: Using this audio, creators are making Reels like this to introduce themselves to viewers, sharing what their businesses [if relevant] are about and what viewers can expect to find when they follow them. The trend can be done solo like this or as a duo with a handshake [use if you’re collabing with another org or candidate]. Quick one-three word descriptors for what viewers can expect to find on the page should be added via text to the video to make it informative. This trend would work particularly well for a candidate or an organization.
“WHEN WE HEAR SOMEONE SAY…” TREND: Using this audio, creators are dropping Reels like this, where they’re rolling into the frame of the camera to share that they’re available for a particular service, to solve a particular problem, to assist in some way, etc. In the case of this example, the text follows this formula: “When we hear someone say they need [TYPE OF ASSISTANCE/HELP/ORG].”
