TIKTOK CONTENT TRENDS

Give these a whirl (and post them on other platforms too)

“WELL THAT WAS STRESSFUL” TREND: This audio is being used to share a situation that straddles the line between being stressful and not being worthy of being stressful, but causes anxiety nevertheless, like seen here. This trend would likely fall into the “office humor” category and could be used by employees to highlight a generally every day task that’s niche to the org/industry that gives them anxiety for no reason. That lane of thought provides an entrance for viewers to understand some of the idiosyncrasies of that type of job.

*We should note that orgs can build out an entire social strategy around office humor content. If you want the 411 on how to do that at your org, you can book a call with us here.

The format for the video doesn’t have to be complicated – it can look like this or like this.

“THIS STORY HAS BEEN TOLD BEFORE…” AUDIO: This audio is generally being used by the girlies to share the common experience of rehashing stories and old gossip over and over, and regrouping to look at the same piece of information from a different angle. From a political POV, the concept could be used to…

  • …share a change in marketing/storytelling strategy by a comms team on an issue area

  • …re-share important information that isn’t getting through to its target demo

  • …bring back/share old “lore” about political story that’s made its mark

  • …”yet again” use a fact or facts to share the “real story” in a political situation in contrast to a continuation of wild and weird claims by the opposition on a situation/issue/political happening

Format-wise, take this video as inspo, as well as this one.

“WHEN HAVE MEN EVER TAKEN ANYTHING WELL” AUDIO: This creator points out the farce that is the saying “take it like a man” since historically men have “not taken anything well.” The audio presents an opportunity for a candidate, elected, or org to highlight a man “not taking it well” aka being able to handle stress or an important job or really any responsibility. With this week’s news, we’d recommend starting out with the group chat of men planning war activities on Signal, but that’s just an idea! Format-wise, the entirety of the audio does not need to be used to make the point – just the first two sentences, like this and should include the name of the man “not taking it well” and what he’s “failing at” via text added to the video.

“NONE OF THIS WILL MATTER ANYMORE” AUDIO: This audio is being used to share/highlight all of the careers and research that won’t “matter” anymore as a result of the Trump Admin’s policies – two examples of that here and here. The trend can be used as a warning from an org or elected with a CTA on something people can do to prevent something becoming a casualty of the Trump Admin. Setting the possible scene, the elected could be standing/leaning in front of the desk with the audio overlaid, and text added to the screen sharing the CTA. The CTA should include “what will be impacted” and “what can be done to stop the bleed.”

INSTAGRAM TRENDS

Creative content concepts to try

“YOU NEED TO CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE” AUDIO: This audio is being used to highlight a situation where someone asks you – an expert in a specific field – to “check your work.” As shown by this creator’s Reel, the trend enables the “push back” to the “critiquer” to be visualized. Politically, if someone were trying to push back on your POV or values, this trend would be a way to show that 1. You remain steadfast in your beliefs and 2. The reasons that you continue to be steadfast in those beliefs [the top 3-4 top-line reasons – it has to be digestible].

“CAN YOU MEET ME HALFWAY” AUDIO: This micro-cut of a longer audio shares the question “can you meet me half way?” Thus the audio can be used to quickly share the push-pull of two representative colleagues trying to find a compromise. Visually, we imagine literally two representatives [or groups of them] filmed trying to “physically pull” each other over an imaginary but spatially obvious “middle line” with the audio running over the video. The video would have text added to it sharing what they’re trying to find a compromise on. The caption can further illuminate what they’re debating. Since the audio is ultrashort with this usage in mind, we recommend putting the video on a loop to increase its length [likely the clip x 4].

THREADS TO THREAD

Reply or Repost to these digital notes on Threads

The ThreadReply OR repost what political “group chat” you’d like to be a fly on the wall in and why. Add a bonus thread [respond to your response] and share what the information procured could be useful for [think - achieving a particular policy goal].

The ThreadReply OR repost with a political breaking point that put us on the current bad trajectory.

The ThreadReply OR repost and share who you’d like to add to your group chat and the policy-related reason you’d like to add them [i.e. inform them].

The ThreadReply OR repost and share a picture of what’s in that one “drawer” in your office [make sure something related to your job is in the picture] – this could also be done by the person in the office that randomly has everything you could ever need.

The ThreadReply OR repost with a morning routine that informs about your job and the political status quo. This would work great for showing a BTS on a campaign.

The ThreadReply OR repost with an issue area you’re focused on in the same format quotes - ex: “Climate Change” -when someone asks what my number one issue area is.
