Give these a whirl (and post them on Reels & Shorts too)

“STOP MAKING THAT FACE” TREND: This trend has creators sharing “their reaction” to being asked to stop making “that face” [expression] when they see… a MAGA hat, a Cybertruck, etc. It’s also being used on the flip side, in a more positive way, like this. The thesis is essentially that the creator will NOT be changing their reaction. To try it, use this audio and add text to the video like this.

“BUT IN A LIBERAL WAY” TREND [is trending again post MDW]: This trend, which has been popular on both Instagram and TikTok, has creators sharing a video that depicts a recognizable part of classical Americana [ex: county fair] that’s been hijacked by the GOP and dubbed “Republican.” The videos then features added text on them that read “but in a liberal way,” pointing to the fact that these pieces of Americana also belong to liberals [aka everyone]; it also signals to the audience, which may have assumed based on the background visual typically that you’re a Republican, that you’re actually a liberal. For the video’s audio, use a country song, like this one that’s moving on the IG charts.

Creative content concepts to try

“IT’S NO CONCERN OF MINE” AUDIO: This audio from Emperor’s New Groove, that classic movie, is being used by creators to point out how the government isn’t concerned with feeding people – take this example to get the gist. The trend can be narrowed to point that finger at Republicans, the Trump tax bill, a more local state budget, and so on that clearly through its writing does not intend to help people that are struggling. The style of the video is lip-sync with texted added in this format: “The [PARTY BEING BLAMED FOR NOT CARING FOR PEOPLE] be like:”

“FROM LOUD TO RELAXING” TREND: Using this audio, pilates studios and salons [mostly]are showing the contrast of the“loud and chaotic” vibes outside of their places with the “calm and relaxed” energy once someone steps inside. Now you might be thinking, how on earth does this connect to the political content theme of this newsletter…we’ll the contrast dynamic can be applied to show:

  • The difference between being in DC versus one’s district

  • The before and after of a gov-funded project [ex: a traffic circle was insane and then it was fixed and now it’s great]

  • The outside world versus inside a museum/exhibit/gallery that tells a specific story that you’d like to highlight [could also work for parks].

“NO ONE WANTS YOUR OPINION” AUDIO: This audio is being used with Reels like this, to point out how you DGAF about  particular person’s opinion and signing it with a verbal “fuck you.” If your brand is brash and sassy, then using this sound to highlight someone whose opinion is trash is a way to troll your opp. Disclaimer: this trend is not for everyone.
